These Boots were made for walking…..


 They are actual the shoes that my dearest Elizabeth got for me as a Christmas Gift. It’s all part of her plan to keep me fit and healthy. 

I need good shoes because we go walking every day without fail. In the past three years I think we have only missed three days when the weather was so bad we just couldn’t go. 

We normally do a 1.6 mile (2.6 kilometre) walk after our morning coffee and before lunch every day. When the weather is a bit warmer we also travel once per week to somewhere in the New Forest for a somewhat longer walk (and a picnic).

Recently we have started doing a second 1.6 mile walk after lunch.  But not every day. 

In view of the claims made by my personal trainer, in order to persuade me to keep walking every day, I thought I’d check them out with Dr Google.



Here’s a list of the health benefits which can be obtained from walking.

For example, you may start out as an average walker, and then work your way up to walking faster and walking a mile in a shorter amount of time than an average walker, similar to power walkers. This can be a great way to get aerobic activity, improve your heart health and increase your endurance while burning calories.



So you can see it’s well worth making the effort. 

For us it is also delightful to see how nature changes day to day and to visit our bird friends and squirrels we see all around us.

I also have the added bonus of spending time with my lovely lady in the fresh air.
