Schindler’s lift

Our apartment here in Wormer is in a small block of 18 that is mainly occupied by older people (like us).

For the well being and peace of mind of us all it is important that we have security and mobility.

Each apartment is equipped with a video door bell which allows a camera view of any visitors. Hopefully this means that only those who are welcome are permitted entry.

We are situated on the second floor. We often use the stairs when going down to the exit but tend to use the Schindler lift when going up. (I’m usually tired after a day of shopping and walking).

It was very kind of Mr Schindler to put us on his lift. Schindler is actually a very big Swiss company which manufactures all kinds of mobility and access equipment and installs it all over the world. Here the lift does and excellent job for us.

So here in our apartment we can feel safe and secure and can easily get in and out.

Today (Sunday) we have been visited by Dennis and his wife Petra together with their daughter Floor (Elizabeth’s eldest grandchild).

We had a lovely time together and I really enjoyed seeing them. Floor is a beautiful, bright and cheerful young lady who makes her grandma and her parents very happy. She is studying at college to work in the Health sector.

We look forward to seeing them all again when we return.

We cooked our final dinner before leaving. The chief storekeeper has done a wonderful job in minimising the food we have left over.  Be assured that nothing will be wasted.

We are all packed and ready to fly like Peter Pan; but in our case on KLM.
