A walk on the wild side

Yesterday we took a trip down to the New Forest for a nice long walk and a picnic lunch.

As you will see from the following pictures the area we went to is mainly heathland - but there are trees around too.  There were very few people around - just the usual horses and cattle.

We arrived home in the afternoon and spent the rest of the day doing the usual - gardening, scrabble and reading. Elizabeth also cleaned the interior of the car.

It was my grandson Alden’s fifth birthday yesterday and he also started school. Modern communications means we were able to see all of the activities of the day in photos and videos. We saw him in his school uniform, blowing out candles on his cake, opening cards (and saying “thank you”) and receiving a surprise present of a new bicycle. It was lovely to see such a happy boy.

There was vegetable curry for dinner and a new series of “The Bridge” (with the  enigmatic Saga) to watch on TV before bed.

All in all a very satisfying day.

More soon....
