A First Entry

Well here we are with our very first post on our new blog.

We are Clive and Elizabeth. 

We live together in England and Holland. 

We met playing scrabble online.

We have been together for just over a year now. 

We are both 73 years old but feel much younger in our minds if not our bodies! 

Each day we hope to post something about what we get up to.

We hope you don’t find it too boring! 

We have just finished 7 days  of quarantine and have got 7 more to go before getting back to “the new normal”.

The reason we had to quarantine was that Elizabeth had been to Holland to complete the purchase of an apartment in Wormer in North Holland. This is close to her family and we hope to use it regularly when we are not in Basingstoke in England. 

Travel advisories mean that we may not be able to travel to and from Holland as often as we would like but we keep hoping that the COVID-19 situation will one day be resolved! There are a lot of places in Holland I want to see. I also want to meet all of Elizabeth’s family. 

Meantime whilst  in quarantine we are somewhat limited in what we can do. We are lucky that we have a fairly large garden. So we have been taking daily exercise by walking in circuits around it. 

In the year that Elizabeth has been here she has been largely responsible for making the garden look beautiful (with an occasional input from me!). We will post photos from time to time. 

Having met playing online scrabble we are still avid fans of the game and play against people from all over the world online on a regular daily basis using the Wordfeud Ap. If you are interested we can let you have our user names there. 

Every Saturday we have soup and Pizza for dinner. So that’s what we will eat this evening 

Elizabeth is vegetarian and I always join her in that but occasionally eat meat if we go out to a restaurant or Pub. 

But because of COVID we have not done that for some time! As things stand a meal in a restaurant does not sound like much fun. 

We keep in touch with friends and family using our ever present mobile phones and iPads. 

We each are learning languages using the Duolingo Ap which we highly recommend. I am learning Dutch and Spanish and Elizabeth is doing French and Spanish. We make some progress every day. We will be doing today’s lessons shortly

After dinner we usually watch television until bedtime. Tonight we are watching an episode of “Vera” and one of “Father Brown” both of which we like very much. 

Despite COVID we are continuing to enjoy our lives together and hope to do so for many years. 

We hope to post daily updates of our lives together and hope we won’t be too boring!
